How This Works

Same Format, Different Life

The classic Rice Purity Test asks if you've ever been walked in on. This one asks if you've been woken up by chanclas hitting the floor at seven on a Saturday because your mom decided the house needed cleaning before anyone else was awake. Same format, different life.

Forty boxes, each one something that happens in a Mexican house or at a Mexican party. Tick what you've lived and the number climbs. The original test counted how much trouble you'd found. This one counts how much of the culture found you.

Do you have to be Mexican to take it? No, but you have to have been around it. A friend who's sat through enough family parties will land somewhere in the teens. Someone who grew up inside it clears 30 and wonders what the other ten were.

11–25

Where most Mexican-Americans raised in the US land. The home questions are all ticked. The Mexico ones depend on how often the family went back.

26–40

You were raised in it. You've translated at a doctor's office for a grandparent and cried during Las Mañanitas while pretending something was in your eye.

Two people can both score 22 and share almost nothing — one lived the quinceañera and the altar, the other the threats and the group chat. Which boxes matter more than how many.
